Axarquia La Axarquía has been discovered only in the last decade or so and the main attraction is the rolling hill and mountain scenery, unspoilt white villages and sweet, strong wine made from sun-dried grapes. Nowhere in Iberia is the Moorish influence more pronounced than in "Al-Andalus," the last stronghold of the Arabs before they were banished by Ferdinand and Isabella in 1492.
